How to lead your family to wellness

If you’ve known me for just a few days or a few years, you know that something I’m super passionate about is education! Education around what healthy nutrition looks like for adults and kids too. In our country and culture, kids don’t typically learn healthy eating habits, therefore they often grow up to be unhealthy adults.
Usually that means they become parents to kids and have no idea how to teach their kids what healthy means or looks like. This cycle is what I see every single day and I have a deep desire to change it. Can I offer you some encouragement if you’re a mom or dad? You can change this for your family!!! In fact, taking care of YOU is part of taking care of your kids!
If you want to lead your family to wellness, learn basic healthy nutrition habits yourself so you can teach your kids while they are young. Learn what foods you need to fuel your body–the purpose of protein, how complex carbs energize us and why healthy fat is critical. When you teach your kids this at a young age, they are far more likely to duplicate what they see and it becomes the norm for them.
Another tip is to get your kiddos involved with meal planning or prepping. We bought our daughter the plastic kids knives, cutting board and tools so she can help cut fruit and vegetables. You know what… she’s so proud when her contribution is part of our meal!
You are the leader of your family so learn the basics and teach it to your kids! As your knowledge and confidence grows in this area, you will empower your kids with knowledge and confidence. Healthy food and nutrition makes most of us feel overwhelmed and lost, but I LOVE and desire to partner with adults and kids to educate, change the future and our culture!!
